The enemies of diets of all shapes and sizes are those cravings that creep up on you. The best defense you can have against those cravings is a solid plan, no matter the type of craving that creeps up (whether it’s your sweet tooth or a need to crunch and munch). Here are some excellent snack options for when you just need a satisfying snack without cheating on your diet.

For Your Sweet Tooth:

  1. 1/2 a medium baked apple with a tbsp of low fat yogurt and a sprinkle of cinnamon
  2. 1/2 of a small frozen banana
  3. 2 sugar-free ice pops
  4. 12 cherries
  5. 1/2 cup of strawberries with 2 1/2 tbsp nonfat yogurt

 

For A Salt Craving:

  1. 1/4 cup shelled edamame with sea salt
  2. 1 pretzel rod
  3. 1 (or several) kosher dill pickle(s)

 

For Crunching and Munching:

  1. 1 1/2 cup sugar snap peas
  2. Small celery stalk with 1/2 tbsp of natural peanut butter
  3. 1 brown rice cake with 1 tbsp sugar-free jam

 

Creamy and Smooth:

  1. 1 oz. avocado with a squirt of lime
  2. 1 Laughing Cow Light garlic & herb wedge spread on cucumber slices
  3. 1/2 cup fat-free Greek yogurt with 1 tsp. sugar-free jam
  4. 8 grape tomatoes dipped in 1 tbsp light cream cheese

 

Solid Standbys:

  1. 1/2 cup melon with 2 tbsp 1% cottage cheese
  2. 1/2 small grapefruit
  3. 1/3 cup blueberries with 1 tbsp light sour cream
  4. 1/2 cup carrots with 1 tbsp light ranch
