If you’re sick of your typical fried or scrambled eggs, try some of these unconventional ideas on for size! They’re fun to make and will definitely impress the people at your breakfast table.
In Pepper Rings
Make “flower eggs” inside of bell peppers with the technique shown below. Enjoy this impressive looking breakfast with some toast and you’re good to go.
In an Onion Ring
For those of you onion lovers, here’s a tasty, cute-looking recipe to try. Basically, you just slice a few sweet (Vidalia) onion rings (you’ll want to use the biggest rings that you can). Brown the onions in some oil in a skillet, then crack eggs right into the middle of the onion rings. Sprinkle a bit of water into the skillet, then cover and cook until your egg is done the way you like it. When finished, sprinkle with salt and pepper and enjoy!
In an Avocado
Here’s a treat that you can bake right in the oven. Just cut an avocado in half and remove the pit. Then crack 2 eggs in a bowl, taking care not to puncture the yolks. Then carefully spoon each egg into the avocado holes. Add some salt and pepper, then place in a baking dish (making sure avocados won’t fall over). Bake for about 15 minutes at 425 degrees, or until you see that the egg is cooked to your liking. Sprinkle crumbled bacon on top to finish off this divine, offbeat breakfast. Eat straight out of the skin or spread on toast.
Eggs in a Hole (in Toast)
Use your favorite kind of bread to make this simple yet impressive recipe. Basically, you just use a cookie or biscuit cutter to cut a hole in the center on your slice of bread. Then, after melting some butter in a skillet, add the piece of bread. Next, crack the egg into the center of the bread and cook for 30-45 seconds. sprinkle with salt and pepper, then flip to other side. When it’s ready, your bread should be golden brown and your egg should be soft cooked with an unbroken yolk.
In a Tart
This recipe is a bit more involved, but looks really cool. You can check out the full recipes here, but basically you just add cheese and an egg to each individual puff pastry and bake. Yum!
