Of all things in the world that you could lose, one of the worst would have to be your wallet. Not only would you lose whatever cash you happened to have inside, but it’d be a huge hassle replacing things like your driver’s license and credit cards, not to mention dealing with any possible fraudulent credit card charges.
Jamie Carlton’s wallet accidentally fell outside his car. Several kids in the neighborhood were playing, when they happened to come across the wallet.
How honest were you when you were a kid? This wallet contained $700 cash. Especially for a kid, that’s a lot of money. Some kids probably would’ve taken all or part of the money before returning the wallet, if they returned it at all, but these kids did the right thing.
In a video that Carlton shared on Facebook, you can see the three kids come up to his door, wallet in hand. Since nobody answered the door, they set the wallet where it wouldn’t be stolen. Then the kids left, riding away on their bicycles.
None of the contents of the wallet were missing. Carlton’s text accompanying the Facebook post reads, “If this doesn’t renew or at least refresh your faith in humanity you need help. These kids are amazing, we would love to find them to reward them and thank them. Their parents should be so proud of them.”
Many people definitely seem to be inspired by this post because, as of the time of publication, Carlton’s post has been shared more than 4,000 times.
People from around the world have commented on this inspirational story. One comment reads, “Just a quick shout out all the way from Bangalore India. The world deserves to see more of these kind of stories.”
Another commenter wrote, “in this day and age, the honesty and decency of these children is a bright light in a sea of darkness and they must be praised.”
It sounds like Carlton was able to thank and reward the kids who found his wallet, because in an update he added to the Facebook post, he wrote, “The mother of two of the kids has contacted me. Two news stations have also been in contact. I forwarded their information on to the mother so she can contact them if she likes. What a nice lady, such great kids!!!”
