Remember the days when we were all so busy? Perhaps you were fighting traffic to get to work or running your kids around to their activities. Perhaps it seemed like your weekend was always full of events to attend. We remember occasionally wishing that we could just spend a day at home.
I’m not saying that we’re not busy during a quarantine. Many of us have school-aged children at home, and we have to keep them occupied while helping with their distance learning. We’re also working from home, but things have definitely changed.
We’re staying home. We’re slowing down. We’re definitely getting that day at home we wished for in the past. In fact, we’re getting what seems like an endless number of days at home. If you have kids at home, we have suggestions about how to keep them busy without going outside, because we definitely recommend that you stay home to stay safe.
The catch is that sometimes it’s necessary to leave. Sometimes we have to get groceries or medicine. We recommend that you don’t leave your house for much more than that. Even if you’re taking your dog for a walk, you need to use caution. Practice social distancing, and consider wearing a face mask.
Face masks can be hard to find nowadays. It’s fairly easy to sew a mask if you’re handy with a sewing machine, but what if you’re not? What if you don’t want to leave your house to find fabric or supplies to make a mask? We have you covered.
Do It On A Dime has some great tips on how you can make a face mask with items you most likely already have in your home. There are two different mask making techniques. One involves a pillow case and ponytail holders. The other involves coffee filters, masking tape, a staple and rubber bands.
Watch the video below to see just how easy it is to make a DIY face mask.
As Catherine mentioned in the video, these DIY masks do not offer the same protection as an N95 mask, but a DIY mask offers more protection than not wearing a mask at all.
People from all over the world are thankful for Catherine’s advice on how to make a no-sew mask. Here’s one comment from Paris, France.
