Do you remember a TV show called Beyond Belief? Viewers were asked to question whether the stories were real or not. Many of the tales seemed so unbelievable that they had to be false, but turned out to be true!
Such is real life. Not everything can yet be explained by science, and there are some mysteries and phenomena that we simply cannot find an explanation for.
This list below examines eleven mysteries around the world that may have you questioning how this world works. It may also have you digging into these phenomena on your own. From strange behaviors to reincarnation, you’ll be curious about the “how”.

Siberian Sinkholes
In 2014, a 260-foot-wide sinkhole was discovered in the middle of the Yamal Peninsula. Following that discovery, two more sizeable holes were found on the Taymyr Peninsula. Sinkholes usually have dirt sucked inwards, but these had dirt rings surrounding the outside.
Since it’s unprecedented to see a formation like this, some scientists guess that it’s possibly some type of sinkhole that erupted outwards. But they’re not sure because there’s nothing on the books like it.

Overtoun Bridge
People are afraid to walk their dogs across this bridge in Scotland. Since the 1960s, dogs have purposely been leaping to their deaths from the bridge. It’s been reported that in some cases, they’re even climbing up the wall to jump. Investigators’ best guess is that the animals are being lured by the scent of mink, but no theory has been set in stone.
-
Harbor Mille Incident
Back in 2010, residents of the tiny community of Harbour Mille spotted several flying missile-like objects in the sky. One woman took pictures to document. Authorities tried to attribute it to classified military exercises, but according to residents, the timeline didn’t match up.

Time Traveler?
Take a look at this picture that’s on display at the Bralorne Pioneer Museum in British Columbia. Does someone look out of place? Yeah, there’s a guy wearing shades and what looks like a hoodie surrounded by people wearing period clothing. We’ll let you decide.

Accidental Math Genius
Researchers are still trying to understand the case of Jason Padgett. He was severely beaten and kicked outside of a bar which resulted in a major concussion. One of the things he experienced after the attack was altered vision which allows him to see lines and geometry around him.
He’s able to see math formulas as geometric figures through his own drawings and surroundings. Labeled a savant, scientists think his injury tapped into some dormant part of his brain, making him a mathematical genius, but they don’t know how it happened.

Stone Spheres
Like Stonehenge, the purpose of these stone balls have been baffling researchers for years. Hundreds of the perfectly sculpted spheres are found in different locales in Costa Rica. The first ones were discovered in the 1930s, but no one knows why they were made and why there are so many.
-
Trumpet Calls
Roughly ten years ago, loud trumpet sounds were heard from the sky in Germany. Over the years, they’ve also been heard in the U.S., Canada, and the Ukraine. This past March, UK resident Calvin Kirlew recorded similar sounds on his cell phone while out and about in Nottingham. It keeps happening around the world but no one is sure why. Watch a video here.
-
Dancing Plague
In 1518 in Strasbourg, Alsace, one woman sparked a deadly dance craze. For a week, she danced and twirled in the streets alone. Within a month, hundreds more joined in and danced nonstop until they literally dropped from heart attack, stroke, or exhaustion. Many died. This lasted from July until September, and is well documented in records from that time.
-
Devil’s Footprints
Many theories abound on a set of hoof prints found in the snow in 1855 England. Over forty miles of cloven hoof markings that looked as if they were branded into the snow spooked locals. It’s said they were spread over hay bales, rooftops, and anything else in their path. The story even made the newspaper headlines during that time!
-
Evidence of Atlantis?
Off the coast of an island in the Bahamas lies the Bimini wall, a rock formation that has scientists scratching their heads. Eighteen feet down into the ocean, the large blocks of stone look man-made and form a structure similar to a road or wall. Their 1968 discovery was predicted during the 1930s by a psychic who believed it was linked to the legendary Atlantis.

Pollock Twins
A family from Hexham, England included two daughters: Jacqueline, 6, and Joanna, 11. Sadly, the two girls were tragically killed in a car accident in 1957. The parents conceived again in 1958, with Mrs. Pollack giving birth to a set of identical twin girls – Gillian and Jennifer.
Jennifer bore a birthmark on her wrist in the same spot where Jacqueline had one, as well as another birthmark where Jacqueline had a scar. By age 2, the girls were asking for the old toys of their deceased sisters. They’d never seen the toys before. Reincarnated? Perhaps . . .
Whether you believe in these occurrences or not, it’s fun to ponder on how they could have happened. There will always be strange phenomena that don’t have a logical explanation, but we (and scientists) can certainly try to explain it away – or accept that mysteries do exist.
What are your thoughts on these unusual events? Are you familiar with any of these tales? Do you have your own experience to share?
