You’ll Never Guess the Secret Ingredient in this Healthy Twist on Popcorn Chicken

There’s a secret power player in this recipe from Fit Men Cook. It’s not the sriracha sauce or the wheat panko crumbs. It’s not the egg, and it’s obviously not the chicken. It’s something that ups the health factor, and we’d never have thought to cook with it in a million years. Go ahead, guess— and then watch how it’s done.

You’ll Need:

– 1 pound chicken breasts
– 1 egg
– 2 egg whites
– 1.5 scoop Quest Nutrition Multipurpose Protein Mix
– 1 1/2 cups wheat panko crumbs
– 3 tablespoons sriracha sauce
– 1/2 tablespoon garlic (minced or paste)
– Pinch of sea salt & pepper

How To:

  1. Set oven to 420 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Chop the chicken breasts into small pieces, about the size of your thumb.
  3. Season the chicken pieces with garlic, sea salt and pepper.
  4. Beat the eggs and the sriracha sauce in a bowl and set aside.
  5. Add the Quest Nutrition protein powder to one bowl and the wheat panko crumbs to another bowl.
  6. Cover the chicken pieces in the protein powder mix and then dip the piece in the egg mixture.
  7. Lightly coat the chicken pieces in wheat panko crumbs and place on a baking rack or baking sheet. Repeat until all of the chicken pieces have been covered.
  8. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

It bears repeating— I never would have thought to cook with protein powder, but after seeing him add it, it makes a lot of sense. Are you on board? Have you ever cooked with protein powder before?
