Whitening Clothes, Cutting Detergent Use

I was admiring a friend’s laundry a few years ago. I asked her how she kept her family’s sox and underclothes so white and her laundry smelled fresh, but not “flowery”. She replied its simple. Instead of laundry additives, I use Ammonia. For each “part” of laundry detergent, I use half that much ammonia. Well I experimented and I found I could use half as much detergent as well as half that much ammonia; especially for lightly soiled loads! My laundry is white, fresh and clean. What’s more your colors are safe with this method (special fabrics like silk, I have no idea…I don’t own clothes that require special handling). Ammonia at Walmart was 79c. Special laundry additives…$3.00-$10. I think it’s a no brainer.
