What to Have on Hand for Power Outages

Since Boston just went through what some referred to as “the snow-pocalypse” yesterday, power outages are on my mind. Many people lost power for a good portion of the day yesterday. With no hot water or electricity, there were most definitely some grumpy people stuck in their homes.

It’s important to be prepared for power outages ahead of time because often when they occur, you’re not able to leave your home to pick up necessities. Here are a few of the things that Sonja from Wise Bread keeps on hand in preparation for emergencies:

  1. Batteries
  2. Matches
  3. Candles
  4. Ice (and a Cooler)
  5. Powdered Milk
  6. Baby wipes
  7. Board Games
  8. Treats
