This Stubborn Dog Will Keep You Out All Night

We all know that dogs are pretty intelligent creatures, and if you’re used to reading them you can tell what’s going on just by the looking at them. The face tells it all. We’re not sure what this dog was expecting once she got inside the store, but her “Heck no! We won’t go!” attitude is admirable.

In the video from Rumble below, 5-year-old Samo clearly isn’t having it. In this video, her owner takes the beagle-lab mix out for a late night stroll and it’s obvious Samo knows exactly where she is. She decided to park her tail right outside of what is apparently one of her favorite hangouts— the neighborhood pet shop. It’s 11 o’clock at night and the store is closed, but Samo insists that it’s open.

Think about it— if your mom took you out and you walked past your favorite store, wouldn’t you want to go in? What do you meeeeeaaaan it’s closed? The lights are on! At first, the cute doggie ignores her owner’s words and doesn’t even acknowledge her with a glance. She just keeps staring into the store. As Samo’s dog-mommy tries to get her attention, she just casts her a look, and turns right back towards the store as if to signal that it is indeed open for business. Duh!

The look on Samo’s face is telling her, “No mom, you’re wrong. This is NYC, the city that never sleeps! Someone’s in there and you need to stop fooling around and take me in.” As Samo’s owner is pleading with her and pulling her leash, we can see this dog won’t take no for an answer. In fact, the defiant expression on Sam’s face is telling; it seems she thinks her mom is flat out lying to her.

Several attempts to pull the dog away are met with resistance and strength. The lady dog continues to protest, insisting that either the owner opens the door or they wait until someone inside does. At one point she starts to scoot away, sniffing the sidewalk for clues or dropped treats. Still unable to take a hint, Samo dashes to the door again, catching her owner off guard. This time, she sniffs around the perimeter of the shop’s windows and doorway, checking things out for herself. After one last plea, Samo’s mom decided to pull her away, with the reluctant dog digging her claws into the sidewalk. Poor disappointed thing.

If you speak the language of dogs then you know how it is when they want something. They can be determined and demanding, but it’s pretty cool to watch their personalities and brains at work. For Samo, she is probably used to getting treats or attention from that store and therefore conditioned to expect it whenever she shows up. Like a child throwing a tantrum, Samo wants what she wants and the rules can kick rocks. If you’re a dog parent, how do you deal with little behaviors like this one? Could you see your dog digging its heels in too? Tell us in the comments!
