This time of the year turkey is on sale. This week I saw turkey at the store for .69 cents/pound. The great thing about turkey is it is versatile. Buy the turkey and bake it for a nice Sunday or holiday meal. Then take the left overs and divide it up and freeze it. The options of what to cook are endless – turkey can be used in place of any recipe calling for chicken and in many recipes calling for ground beef. I personally make – turkey gumbo, turkey pot pie, turkey noodle soup, turkey taco stew, turkey chili, turkey spaghetti and of course turkey salad sandwiches. I can usually get 6 meals from one 20lb turkey and we are a family of 5. At .69/pound this is a great savings.
