Black Friday Deals Round Up

Submitted by: Tip Hero  11/18/2009 10:55 AM

With Black Friday (a.k.a. the day after Thanksgiving) fast approaching, we thought it would be a good time to do a quick round up of all of the sales/deals/etc. being offered by major retailers next week. We put together a quick list of useful resources below. Also, as always, we encourage you to comparison shop online and always check for coupons before you make an online or in-store purchase.

We came across a website whose sole focus is on Black Friday sales information, and its website address is, appropriately, BlackFriday.info. From the website:

We are the official site for all of the 2009 Black Friday ads as they are reported to us during this holiday shopping season. As we get closer to Black Friday 2009, we will be posting sale information along with Black Friday ad scans.

You can search the site by latest news or by company ads.

Web Search: leaked Black Friday ads

We did find, however, that BlackFriday.info has been asked to take down some of the recently leaked Black Friday ads that gave consumers a sneak peak at the deals that will be offered on the 27th. To find out about these ads, we suggest viewing MSN Money's re-cap:

- Black Friday: Kmart ad leaked - "40-page circular has a ton of doorbusters; toys are 50% off."

- Black Friday: OfficeMax's ad leaked - "Deals include a $149 netbook and $49 digital camera."

- Black Friday: Sears ad a snooze - "With one exception, the deals are just decent."

Walmart didn't allow any "leaks" of their ad just yet, and it's unlikely they will. However, they've already announced a few deals that have generated a bit of attention and buzz so be on the look out for more of these over the coming week, such as these noted by TechBanyan.com:

[Posted November 16, 2009] Wal-Mart is smart. They are keeping their ad from being leaked. So far, the deals we know about from Wal-Mart are early Black Friday deals. For instance, this Saturday shoppers could get a $100 gift card with the purchase of a BlackBerry handset and a 2 year contract at T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon wireless. This made many handsets "free".

Wal-Mart also has a great deal on an ACER netbook. For $358 you can get a netbook, carrying case, printer, external CD-ROM, and flash drive. Again, this is a deal that is offered early – before the 2009 Black Friday sales. Hopefully deals like this will be even sweeter during the 5-6 hour mega-sale.

Web Search: free Walmart coupons

And if the website BlackFriday.info didn't satisfy your Black Friday ad cravings, you can also check out Black-Friday.net (though we're not sure which site is best and if one has more information than the other).

Both of these websites allow you to sign up to get information regarding Black Friday ads and deals emailed to you when they're released.

On the other hand, November 27, 2009 is the International Buy Nothing Day, calling for a 24 hour moratorium on consumer spending. That's frugal!

And remember--as always, if you don't need it, it's NOT a deal and you didn't save any money, you only spent!

I am starting a new Black Friday tradition at our house--we will stay at home and make the NEXT YEAR's Christmas wish list. If we still want the items on the list a year from now, then we will take advantage of next year's Black Friday sales and purchase the items, if not, we will have saved by not buying something we didn;t need that badly anyway.
