We eat out often with friends, more for the commraderie and relationship than for the food. To cut costs without giving up the routine I sometimes just
order soup;
or forgo ordering an alcoholic drink or a soda and instead order water;
or order a baked potato or a baked sweet potato as my main course;
or order two or three side orders such as corn muffin, stewed apples, coleslaw or green beans;
or use a coupon;
or split a meal with my husband;
Afterward when driving around with the friends, go through the drive up at McDonald's we all order coffee to sip while enjoying each others' company.
