The Wonders of Salt Water

I think it is common knowledge by now that salt water can be used as an extremely effective gargle for a sore throat. I’ve been using that remedy since I was little. But did you know that salt water can also help to cure a stuffy nose or a toothache? Mix a teaspoon of salt into a cup of water, heat it in the microwave for a bit and then take a look at what Bohemian Revolution says you can do:

  • Sniff it up a Stuffy Nose: put a few drops of warm salt water on a spoon, put it under your nostril and sniff it up. If you can’t sniff very well, just do the best you can. The salt will act as an anti-inflammatory on your nasal passages. The mixture will also moisturize your passages and help break up the congestion.
  • Rinse for Toothaches: this technique is actually recommended by dentists. Rinse your mouth with a salt water mixture to subdue pain and promote quick healing.

Do you know of any other curative uses for salt water?

Thanks to Bohemian Revolution for the tips!
