You Won’t Believe What Happens When This Man Ties a Strap to a Tree Trunk

If you’re a viral video fanatic, then we’re fairly certain that you already know this golden rule: The length of the video has NO bearing on its overall quality. It’s true—people don’t turn to YouTube to witness an Oscar-worthy moment; they just want to laugh! So, when we came across the 9-second video entitled: “Paul vs stump,” we knew it was going to hit the spot!

This viral clip has garnered almost 7 million views on its own, with the help of major media outlets covering the star’s very suspect landscaping abilities. And, though the faceless Paul character is somewhat of an internet mystery, his incomparable desire to save some dough certainly is tugging at our heart strings!

Here’s the part where I would say that the video starts off “ordinarily enough,” but that is just not the case because the first frame reveals something quite odd. It’s a shot of a large SUV with one end of a heavy-duty strap attached to the hitch. The other end of that said strap is actually tied tightly around a tree stump.

To me, it’s a bit reminiscent of an at-home tooth extraction that my funny uncle always tried to perform on me when a baby tooth would become loose when I was a kid—you know, the old, “I’m going to tie a piece of string around your tooth and yank it out” bit—but this takes that horrifying scenario to a whole new level!

Of course, since there is an SUV with a probably enviable amount of horsepower in that engine, you know what is bound to happen next. Our friend Paul hits the gas, and starts to drive…

Now, before you get the full (hilarious) reveal of what exactly happens to that tree, let’s first talk stump removal, shall we?

Let’s say that you’ve got a fair amount of property and have, for whatever reason, had to chop down one of your trees. You want to wipe the slate clean of any and all memories of this dead sapling, so you decide that you need it removed.

From here, there are two roads that you can take: a) the safe one, or b) the one that requires some elbow grease. So, that means you can either seek professional help and fork over the $60 to $350 it costs to remove it, or you can have a hand at it yourself by using this tried and true technique.

Either option is a heck of a lot better than what Paul attempts!

Quite a bit of lead up for a clip that times in at less than 10 seconds, huh? Well, if we haven’t thoroughly convinced you to watch this DIY hilarity, then we give up! To see how Paul “removed” the stump, be sure to click on the video below. This goes without saying but, DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME!
