Let’s be honest, there’s NOTHING cuter than seeing interspecies friendships! And, while we love watching videos with completely unexpected animal bonds, our hands-down favorites always involve dogs and babies. There’s just something so magical about seeing man’s best friend look out for an infant!

That’s why we just had to share this viral video—it illustrates the most charming connection between hound and babe that we’ve seen in a while.

Now, first of all, we just have to say that, while today’s particular clip is undeniably adorable, we’re guessing that any parent who is raising a newborn right now will find its contents to be appalling. Here’s why…

The video starts with an absolutely precious scene—a cute Yellow Lab is staring quizzically at a slumbering infant. It’s clear that the big doggy doesn’t want to do any harm to the young’un, but it’s also quite evident that he doesn’t want the kid to be sleeping. He just wants his favorite playmate to wake up!

The canine uses his snout to cover up the little baby with a blanket. At first glance, it seems like the dog just wants to ensure that his favorite little pal is getting the rest he deserves, but, as the seconds roll on, it’s quite obvious that he has, again, grown tired of watching the little one sleep. That big guy is ready to play.

By the end of the video, the dog gives the snoozing tyke a couple gentler pushes, then walks away. We’re betting you can guess what happens next—and, no, if we were this bundle of joy’s parents, we wouldn’t be happy either!

 

How to train your dog to give your baby some quiet time

If your first ‘baby’ was a ‘fur baby’, then we’re sure that you have struggled to integrate your human offspring into the family. After all, the pooch (or pooches) WAS there first, and sometimes these animals don’t know any better than to keep up with their needy habits, even after an infant is born.

Sound like a familiar conundrum? If so, then it’s important that you keep up with your normal routine that you had established with your dog ‘pre-baby’. Of course, it can be difficult to get all of those walks in, but your fur baby could be exhibiting this nosy behavior because he or she is just not getting the attention or exercise they need.

On the other side of the coin are dogs that find the sound of crying—a very typical occurrence with newborns—distressing. To fix this, the experts at Cesar’s Way suggest acclimating Fido before the baby comes. Julianna Weiss-Roessler writes:

You can help accustom your canine (and human!) family members to the sounds of crying before the new arrival by playing the sound on your computer at loud volumes for extended periods of time. If possible, keep your dog some place where the noises of the baby can’t reach him at night. (That way, at least someone is the house is getting a good night’s sleep!)
