How to Make Baked Ziti without an Oven

Call me biased, but Italian-American comfort food is always the best kind of comfort food. Carb-loaded pasta, creamy sauce, layers and layers of thick cheese – it doesn’t get any better than that. And baked ziti may just take the crown for the best of the best comfort food out there. The only downside to this layered pasta, ricotta, cheese and sauce masterpiece? It takes some serious prep time and some prolonged, hungry waiting while it bakes. For the lazy foodie who wants their comfort food now, try this slow cooker baked ziti recipe! SLOW COOKER BAKED ZITI

INGREDIENTS
– 2 eggs
– 15 oz. ricotta
– 1/2 cup basil
– 2 cloves garlic
– 1/2 tbsp. rosemary
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1 tbsp. lemon juice
– 4 cups marinara sauce
– 1 lb. penne
– 3 cups Italian cheese, shredded

DIRECTIONS

1. Combine egg, ricotta, basil, garlic, rosemary, salt, pepper and lemon juice and stir.
2. In your slow cooker layer a layer of marinara sauce, penne, the ricotta mix and shredded Italian cheese.
3. Cook on high for 3-4 hours.
4. In the last 30 minutes, sprinkle another cup of Italian cheese on top. Serve warm.
