Bacon might get all the love, but this year, we’re expanding our recipe horizons and looking to another breakfast meat to dress up our appetizers: sausage! We already know where we want to start: with this recipe from Food Wishes for Sausage Cheese Balls. It’s not only easy-to-make, but also super frugal and totally delicious, stretching a small amount of meat and cheese into a snack or appetizer fit for a crowd. Watch how they’re made and give them a try.
– 1 1/4 pounds raw hot Italian pork sausage meat (just remove the casing from uncooked, link-style sausages)
– Pinch of nutmeg
– 1/2 cup finely sliced green onions
– 1/2 pound (about 3 cups) shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese
– 2 cups biscuit mix, or self-rising flour
– 2 tablespoons milk
Out of those simple ingredients, you can get 48 sausage cheese balls! How great is that?! Get the full written instructions over on the Food Wishes site and tell us what other sausage recipes we should check out this year!
