The Ceremony Was Great, but Everybody Knows the Real Big Moment Is This One

It’s hard not to cheer for a real-life fairy tale. The absence of fairy godmothers and singing animals doesn’t make a love story any less magical in the eyes of many adults (and children too).

Watching the romantic life of one of Britain’s most beloved royals unfold with an American actress became quite intriguing for many people. To see Princess Diana’s youngest son – Prince Harry – go from a “wild child” to a married man who is now wildly in love brought tears to fans of the family.

In a wedding ceremony that set records for its elements of inclusivity, style, nonconformity, and old-fashioned love, we got to see a bit of a fairy tale come true. A prince and a “commoner” tie the knot? A British royal and a California girl with multicultural heritage together forever? And love prevailed.

Perhaps that’s why people were so drawn to this couple’s journey to the altar. People traveled from far and wide to be present for a royal wedding and all the opulence that comes with such events. They wanted to see a prince marry his princess. They wanted to see the gown, the castle, the horse-drawn carriage, and maybe most of all— the kiss!

Harry and Meghan’s first kiss as a married couple on the steps of St. George’s Chapel marked a moment in time that felt just like a fairy tale. It also marked a moment in history. It’s what many of us have grown up reading about or watching in fantasy movies, and it’s something that you don’t get to see all the time.

We have seen these two show lots of affection towards one another, and lived through the non-stop media coverage (and hounding) of their personal lives since announcing their engagement. Everything culminated in this regal yet loving display of their union, which was sealed with a kiss. That’s where it is, right?

The British royals are in the public eye constantly, and for some, they are offering a peek inside what a monarchy looks like. Few other royal families have captured the world’s attention in the way that they have, so when a huge event like this takes place on a global stage, folks tend to watch.

We have seen it before with Princess Diana and Prince Charles, and with William and Catherine. Something about the prince and princess concepts just gets people. Did it get you?

Think about your own love story (real or imagined) and the feeling you get in a defining moment such as your first kiss. As said before, it’s hard not to cheer for something like that! Whether you watched the royal wedding or skipped it, click on this video below to see the royal couple’s first smooch as a married couple.

Although they’re not standing on a palace balcony, it’s still a picturesque sight with the flowery arch and chapel in the backdrop. Happily ever after!

Did you tune in for Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s nuptials? Were you moved to tears at any point? What do you think about moments like the first kiss?
