Quick Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa

Salmon is a wonderfully healthy and hearty fish. It also benefits from the fact that it takes less than 10 minutes on a hot grill (or grill pan) to be cooked to utter perfection.

Kelsey Kinser
2 filets of salmon, preferably wild caught

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt

1/2 teaspoon spicy chili powder

For the salsa:

1 ripe avocado

1/4 cup diced red onion

1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (or parsley if you’re cilantro averse)

salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon lime juice

  1. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels and rub them with the olive oil. Pat the spices into the fish and heat your grill pan up on high heat. Grill the salmon on high heat flipping once after about 3-4 minutes (depending on the thickness of your filets.) If you start to see anything white coming out of the salmon your fish is done, immediately remove it from the heat or flip it if that’s only happening on one side.
  2. Make the salsa but mashing the avocado with the lime juice, cilantro, red onion, and salt and pepper to taste. Serve the hot salmon with the salsa on top.
