To further ensure that airline passengers are protected when it comes to booking flights, the US Department of Transportation has instated some new regulations that take effect this week. Luckily for airline customers, these regulations could help to save money or at least have a better idea of prices before you book. Here are some of the regulations that are worth getting excited about:

• If you cancel within 24 hours of making a reservation, you’ll be entitled to a full refund on your tickets as long as the departure date is at least a week away.
• Mandatory taxes and fees must be included in airfares displayed in advertisements.
• Ticket prices “generally” can’t be increased after they are bought. Apparently, this regulation is a bit vague, but it could help to offer some protection.
• Baggage fees have to be disclosed when customers book a flight.
