69-Year-Old Man Wants To Legally Change His Age To 49 To Get Tinder Dates

As we get older, don’t we all wish we could just go back in age? We can change our clothes, our hair color, heck we can even change our names or genders. But unfortunately, there’s no way to change your age—despite one man trying.

Emile Ratelband recently made himself known when he asked the court to legally change his age from 69 to 49. “Sure, Emile, we’ll get right on that,” the court said—not.

Of course we aren’t able to legally change the year we were born, although Emile does have a pretty good reason why he thinks he deserves to do so.

Emile says that his doctor told him that biologically, he has the body of a 45-year-old. That explains why he says he typically feels 20 years younger, and why he identifies with being 49 over 69.

The Dutch man also says that being 69 offers a lot of limitations that being 49 would help fix, the biggest one being his online dating life. Emile says that on Tinder, when he lists his age as 69, he doesn’t get many matches, but he knows that if he were to say he was 49, he would.

Some, like Emile, may argue that “age is just a number,” but is that the truth?

What about the other way around? What if an 18-year-old wanted to be 21 so they could buy booze? Or a 21-year-old wanted to be 25 so they could rent a car? What about those youngsters who feel old enough to do those things?

Still, Emile has continued to try to have his birthday changed on his passport, but with no avail yet. To learn the court’s argument against the age change, check out the video below.

What do you think of Emile’s argument to change his age? Is his idea totally ridiculous—or does it make even a little bit of sense?
