Make Your Own Sidewalk Paint, Make the World Your Canvas
How much fun was drawing with sidewalk chalk as a kid? Using it could turn even the most bland suburban driveway into a colorful adventure world. Happy Hooligans shows us how to share that magic with our kids and take it to the next level with this DIY sidewalk paint that only needs 3 easy ingredients. Your kids will love it, and you’ll love how easy it is to wash away when it’s time for your driveway “exhibit” to close.
You’ll Need:
– A sectioned container (Happy Hooligans reused a prepackaged fruit tray)
– Cornstarch, 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons for each color you want
– Cold water, 1/4 cup per color
– Food coloring
– A small whisk
How To:
- Add 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of cornstarch to each section of your container.
- Add 1/4 cup of cold water to each section, a little at a time.
- Whisk until the cornstarch has completely dissolved. You want to reach a consistency thick enough that the mixture drizzles from the whisk.
- Add the food coloring, and stir well.
Paint away! Happy Hooligans also recommends adding traditional sidewalk chalk into the mix for a crazy, colorful effect. Will you give it a try? Have you ever painted your driveway or sidewalk before? What happy memories of sidewalk chalk do you have?
