Crowd Loses It Over A Capella Group’s Funny Performance

Straight No Chaser is one of the most popular and well-known acapella groups out there. For anyone who isn’t familiar, acapella groups perform entire song arrangements just with their voices, imitating the background music of instruments with their vocal chords. These shows are amazingly fun to watch and this famous group does it like no one else.

While on tour in New Mexico, the 10-man group decided to belt out a rendition of the classic Beach Boys song, “In the Jungle.” From the moment they start singing we know it’s going to be amazing – but they have a hilarious little surprise in store that we didn’t see coming!

When the video below starts, one of the members explains that they created their very own choreography for this performance, which he says “will be very apparent in a moment.”

The men, all lined up in smart khaki suits, begin the song with the deep voice of the basses. Gradually, the other voice parts layer on top until we hear the recognizable melody we love.

To put the cherry on top, one of the young men (the one who made the announcement about their choreography) steps forward to sing the solo line in a gorgeous, surprising falsetto voice.

After he finishes the first few lines of the song, he begins to snap – and then everything picks up. The rest of the group joins him in snapping and the tempo suddenly quickens, and then the men begin to step back and forth!

Their energy is absolutely through the roof, as is typical of a SNC performance, and they finish the first chorus bopping to the uptempo beat. But that isn’t even the start of their hysterical dance moves! They have so many funny little bits in store for the audience and even a bit of a mashup towards the end of the number that you’ll definitely recognize.

This is a pretty classic Straight No Chaser performance – goofy, fun, but still extremely well put together! Like the group says on their website:

“Straight No Chaser (SNC) are neither strait-laced nor straight-faced, but neither are they vaudeville-style kitsch. As original member Randy Stine comments, ‘We take the music very seriously; we just don’t take ourselves too seriously.'”

We love their easygoing approach to acapella, it makes their albums incredibly fun to listen to and their concerts a full-blown experience! What did you think of this funny rendition? Do you enjoy Straight No Chaser? Make sure to share your thoughts with us!
