How to Save on Flowers for Valentine’s Day

Getting your sweetie flowers for Valentine’s Day may seem like a standard thing to do. But flowers don’t usually come cheaply, and there are other cheaper options out there that can achieve the same effect. Take a look at some sweet alternative ideas:

  • Make Your Own:

The point of flowers on Valentine’s Day is really to dazzle someone and show them that you care with the help of something beautiful. This effect can be achieved (maybe even more so) with something a little more creative. Try making your own flowers out of something unlikely. Is your recipient a book lover? Make them a bouquet of flowers out of old book pages, for example.

  • Go Grocery Shopping:

You may be able to find cheaper flower arrangements at your local grocery store or superstore (i.e. Costco). And if they look “cheap” to you, you can always take the bouquet apart and arrange it better yourself.

  • Skip the Vase:

When ordering flowers, skip the vase unless it comes for free with your order. Instead, try something like an old wine bottle or a mason jar to give your bouquet a special (and free) touch.

  • Potted Plant:

Instead of giving a loved one a bouquet of flowers that will wilt within a couple of weeks, why not give them the beginnings of a plant. That way, they can care for it and watch it grow over a long period of time.
