How to Make Bacon in the Microwave

Want to cook a bunch of bacon in a hurry without a huge mess? Rather than reaching for your skillet, or baking sheet, reach for a plate, some paper towels and use your microwave. The fellow in the video below shows his tips for perfectly cooked bacon using his microwave. By folding the bacon upright into little hearts he’s able to cook half a pound of bacon at once. He starts by cooking it for 5 minutes and then flips it over and cooks it for 80 seconds more (cooking times may vary based on your microwave’s power settings).

My only gripe with his method is he could have used normal microwave-safe plates. He also could have just flipped over the plates rather than flipping the bacon individually at the turning point. But I like his idea for fitting that much bacon on the plate. Check out the video below:

Another simple method for cooking bacon in the microwave is to grab a plate and a small bowl, microwave safe of course. Turn the bowl upside down and place it on the plate. Lay the slices across the bowl so you’re basically tenting the bacon. Then pop it in the microwave, a minute for each slice, so if you have 4 slices, then put it in for 4 minutes. The bacon grease runs down the bowl and on to the plate so it’s easy to clean up.
