Simply unfasten the existing cushion from the chair; most are attached by screws underneath the seat. To make the cover, place the removed cushion on the wrong side of the fabric. Outline it with a marking pencil or regular pencil. Add an inch to this outline all the way around, following the shape. This allowance will let you to have enough fabric to tuck under. Cut out the fabric and use it as the pattern for any additional cushion covers.

To cover the cushion, place a removed cushion with the right side against the wrong side of the fabric cover. Center it in place, and fold the fabric neatly underneath it. You can use tape to hold it temporarily in place. Sometimes staples are used. Replace the cushion on the chair, tightening the screws through the fabric.
