We all know that staying hydrated is important to health, but actually making sure your whole family drinks enough water can be tricky. Add in all of the popular sports drinks, vitamin waters, and picky kid-palates, and sometimes it can seem impossible to know the best way to get children to drink enough of the clear stuff. (Heck, I know a lot of adults who hate drinking just plain water!) Check out Super Healthy Kids, which brings us this recipe for an all-natural hydration drink and some super helpful information on general hydration, sports drinks, and keeping kids running, jumping and playing. This drink is not only full of the electrolytes, sodium, magnesium, potassium and carbohydrates to keep kids going, but the flavors that will have them – and adults! – asking for more!
– 3 cups of coconut water
– 1 cup 100% juice (Choose your favorite kind!)
– 1 cup ice
– 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
– 1 tablespoon raw honey
– Squeeze of lime and orange (optional)
Simply combine all of the ingredients together in a high-powered blender and blend for 1 minute. It will be ready to drink immediately or store in your refrigerator for up to 1 week.
