Over 132,000 Pounds Of Ground Beef Recalled by USDA – Meat Linked To Death & Illnesses

Another day, another food recall. This time the tainted food is none other than ground beef–in fact, it’s roughly 132,000 pounds of it. On September 19th, the USDA published a public health warning, urging red meat buyers to take a look in their fridges and freezers for ground beef.

According to the agency, the red meat could be contaminated with E. Coli 026, a nasty bacteria that, when introduced to the human body, could mean diarrhea and vomiting. In the worst cases, particularly those seen in small children, the bacteria could contribute to kidney failure. Typically, symptoms occur in 2 to 8 days after being exposed to it.

The USDA has deemed this specific product as bringing a ‘High’ health risk to the population that consumes it. Because of the severity of the bacteria, it’s important that everyone who has bought ground beef recently to take a closer look at their purchase.
