Picture this familiar scenario: dinnertime has passed, you’re lounging on the couch, and you suddenly get a craving for dessert. There’s nothing in the cabinet or fridge that will satisfy you and the thought of driving out to get sweets just doesn’t feel worth it. Ugh.

So what is a sweet-lover to do?!

Fear not, we have the answer! All it requires is two ingredients, a coffee mug, and two minutes of your life. In no time at all, you can have a delicious dessert that will satisfy all your chocolate cravings and get you back to your Netflix binge ASAP.

The two things you’ll need are chocolate ice cream and self-rising flour — two things that seem a little strange to be combining, but together they can make some serious magic.

Now, we know what you might be thinking. Why would you go through the effort to make this dessert if you have ice cream already in your freezer?

Well, once you see this gooey, decadent chocolate muffin that you can make in literally a couple minutes, you’ll opt for that masterpiece over a bowl of humdrum ice cream any day! (By the way, this is technically a chocolate “muffin“, but it has the same consistency and deliciousness of cake, too!)

And, think of it this way, you can always make this cake and top it off with another scoop of ice cream! Now you have the best of both worlds.

Understandably, whichever ice cream you have on hand will determine the flavor of your mug muffin; so chocolate ice cream will make for a fantastic chocolate cake, whereas a vanilla bean ice cream will make for a lighter, fluffier kind of baked good.

The chocolate variety we made was incredible, but there are so many variations we want to play with! Cookies and cream ice cream would make for an amazingly creamy cake, and we picture it topped off with crushed Oreos. Or you could use a praline swirl flavor, topped off with crushed nuts and a caramel drizzle.

Amazing.
