These days it can be rather tempting to get into a precarious pose for a good, old Kodak moment. After all, it seems that everyone wants to impress all of their social media followers with envy-inducing snapshots—even if the situation surrounding the photoshoot may not be the safest.

If you type ‘photo fails’ into YouTube, then you will be met with video upon video of content that is similar to our cringe-worthy clip that we are going to show you today.

Now, it’s not necessarily the subject in the photo that is so embarrassing—in fact, our heroine is quite the stunner—it’s the fact that nature decides to come in at the most inopportune moment and upstage the shoot entirely!

Here’s how it all plays out: The photographer starts recording the beachy beauty as she situates herself on a rock in the water at a picturesque shoreline. The chosen backdrop for this impromptu shoot is simply breathtaking—we don’t blame her for wanting to insert herself into the scene.

But, as with all viral videos that can be found on the Internet, it’s safe to assume that the initial scenario being presented to the viewer doesn’t go as planned. In other words, things go south FAST.

Now, we’re sure you’re a smart person, and you can obviously put two and two together. So, if you are starting to think that this model is going to end up getting a bit TOO well-acquainted with the crashing ocean behind her, then you are absolutely right.

Just as she settles on the right angle, the man who is taking the video starts yelling. Now, we don’t speak his language, so we don’t know the direct translation of what he is saying, but we bet it is something like, “Watch out, lady—there’s a big wave behind you!!!”

And, just as soon as the beauty turns around…

…she gets smacked right in the face with the rogue wave.

OK, maybe ‘smacked’ isn’t the right term… perhaps ‘pummeled’ would be more appropriate! To put it simply, it looks like she was attacked by a linebacker. That swell really must have been packing some heat!

Luckily, the star of this video, Rosangela de Silva, has a pretty good sense of humor about her harrowing day at the beach. She writes:

On a beach day, I decided to take a photograph on a rock that I found gorgeous. I was not aware my husband was making a video. While I was posing, he started to scream about the wave, and it really took me by surprise.

Innnnteresting…. We’re not one for conspiracy theories, but it is awfully fishy (no pun intended!) that Rosangela’s husband was recording her instead of taking a still photo like she had requested. Perhaps he was the one who was actually engineering this one-of-a-kind fail???
