Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots

Looking for a easy and fast appetizer that’s sure to be a hit at your event. These bacon-wrapped tater tots only take minutes to prep and taste delicious right out of the oven. Check out the video below to see how easy these are to make:

Ingredients:

1 lb (16 oz) package bacon , cut in half (about 16 whole strips cut into 32 half strips)

1 small bag frozen tater tots (you’ll need only 1 tater tot per ½ strip of bacon, so 32 individual tots), thawed at room temperature

½ cup brown sugar, in a bowl or plate large enough to roll the tots in (increase the amount of sugar if making more tots, decrease if using less)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 450.

2. Starting with one half strip of bacon, place a tater tot on one end of the strip, then roll it up.

3. Roll the bacon-wrapped tater tot in the bowl or plate of brown sugar until evenly coated. Skewer the tot with a toothpick and then place it on a wire rack that fits inside a cookie sheet lined with parchment or foil (for easier cleanup, because the brown sugar will burn and stick to the bottom of your pan and scrubbing it off is no fun). Repeat with the remaining bacon and tater tots.

4. Place all of the rolled tater tots onto the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the bacon is crisp and dark brown on top.

Of course you can just roll the tots in bacon without the sugar step, but the brown sugar is what makes the bacon have a glazed appearance, a crisper texture and that sweet-salty combination that we all love. There are also endless variations including cheese and/or other imaginative ideas for wrapping things in bacon.

(dates, jalapeños, water chestnuts, scallops, etc etc).
