9 Helpful Uses for Coffee Filters
If you’re a coffee drinker, you’ve likely got a cheap supply of coffee filters hanging out in your kitchen. But these cheap goodies are great for a lot more than making coffee. Take a look at some ideas from SavvySugar:
- Flavor Boost: simmer flavors into soups, stews and sauces without having to dip herbs and such out of the pot. Just use a coffee filter to create a bouquet garni.
- Soil Saver: put a coffee filter at the bottom of a potted plant to save your soil and keep it from leaking out with the water.
- Clean Your Car: because filters are lint free, they’re great for cleaning the interior surfaces of your car. Just dab with a bit of olive oil or baby oil and buff your console.
- Shine-free: cut coffee filters into small squares and use as a face blotter during the day to remove oil.
- Polish Remover: try using coffee filters instead of cotton balls to remove nail polish. The small paper particles in the filters have more texture and may work better.
- Dryer Sheets: use vinegar, essential oil, a sealable container and coffee filters to make your own dryer sheets.
- Broken Cork Fix: if you broke a cork into a bottle of wine, just cover the opening of the bottle with a coffee filter and secure with a rubber band. Then you can get cork free wine without a problem.
- Pulp-free Juice: wrap a filter around an orange or lemon, twist the top, then sqeeze to release the juice without releasing the seeds or pulp.
- Clean Windows and Mirrors: because filters are lint-free, they will help to give your windows and mirrors a streak-free shine without dusty residue.
