7 Free Workshops for Your Kids This Summer

Trying hard to fill up those summer days with fun things for your kids to do? Well there are plenty of free events that your kids can take advantage of (perhaps while you do a little shopping). Check out 7 free workshops your kids will get excited about:

Apple

Apple is offering two free camp programs this summer. First, Stories in Motion with iMovie and second, Interactive Storytelling with iBooks. If you’ve got tech-loving kids, you’ll want to sign your kids up ASAP as space is limited. Your 8-12 year olds will attend 3-day workshops where they learn to create movies or animated stories. Microsoft

Similarly, Microsoft is offer some in-store workshops for kids where they’ll lear things like game coding for making their own games, gam design for mobile games and movie making skills with Windows Phone and Surface Pro. These workshops usually last for about 2 hours each over the course of 4 days. Sign your kids up and find more info here.

Home Depot

On the first Saturday of each month, bring your kids into Home Depot locations to build things like pencil holder crates and bug houses. Kids ages 5-12 can participate and will get a free apron, certificate and commemorative pin to take home.

Lowe’s

Lowe’s has these kinds of workshops every Saturday at 10am. Your kids will get to work on building wooden projects with free aprons and googles. You can check out the upcoming schedule here.

LEGO

Once a month, you can bring your kids into a LEGO store and they’ll be able to build a select model to take home. Just check with your local store for details and specific dates.

Disney Store

These stores have events throughout the summer (until September 1st) for kids ages 3+. Kids will get to participate in free activities like learning to draw Disney characters and story time. Afterwards, they’ll receive a free button featuring a Disney character. Check out the schedule here.

Pottery Barn Kids

Take advantage of themed events at Pottery Barn Kids throughout the summer. You can check out the schedule here, but events usually feature free snacks, giveaways and character appearances.
