5 Fun Fruit Salad Tips

Fruit salad is wonderful in the summer. It’s light, filling, and a great use of seasonal fruits. Take a look at a few tips from $5 Dinners for making your fruit salads anything but ordinary on the cheap:

  1. Grapefruit Juice and Cinnamon: apples and bananas will brown if they sit for a while in a fruit salad unless you add some acidic juice to the mixture. Try adding some grapefruit juice with a few sprinkles of cinnamon.
  2. Sweet Lime Vinaigrette: use oil, lime juice, sugar, ground cinnamon and cumin to create a delicious and light vinaigrette to toss in your fruit salad.
  3. Store in Salad Spinner Basket and Bowl:

Fruit Salad that sits in the fridge for 2-3 days can get quite juicy. If you store your fruit salad in the salad spinner basket, the juices will drain into the salad spinner bowl and the fruit that you eat/serve will be juice free. If you don’t want to waste the liquid, add it to your lunchtime or snack time smoothie that day!
