4 Free Things You Can Do in Any City

Once you spend money on the ride to get you there and the place to stay on your trip, you’re unfortunately not likely to be done spending money on your visit. But when you visit any city, there are many things that you could do that could be fun and educational for free. Here are some of Wise Bread’s best ideas:

Visit a Park

Most big cities have big parks that you can stroll, run or bike through, and you’ll likely find you can pass a good amount of time there. The people watching will be great and you might even find a free concert or other free performances going on.

Go to a Museum

Most museums do charge admission. However, a lot of museums offer free admission deals. You may be able to get free museum passes at public libraries or you could use your Bank of America card to get free admission, for starters. Just do some research before you go.

Search for Hollywood

Most major cities can boast of at least one or two famous movies filmed there, and some cities, like New York and Toronto, have been home to countless films. The movie “Rocky” came out in 1979, but not a day goes by that someone doesn’t triumphantly climb the steps to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In the Georgetown section of Washington, DC, anyone can go check out the famous “Exorcist” steps.

Hold a Scavenger Hunt

Before you visit a city with a group of friends or family members, make a list of notable landmarks. Then when you visit, you can make it a challenge to see who can find the most. This is a fun way to make sure you see main attractions, but also add a little competitive edge to the day.
